Therefore we have put together the Callan Orthodontic process in order to show patients the high standard of customer service given at Callan Orthodontics.

Step one: Book A Free Consultation

Once you contact our wonderful reception team, they will be more than happy to make an appointment with our Treatment Co-Ordinator.

During this phone call, the receptionist will take a deposit of €50, which is fully refundable if you choose not to proceed with treatment. Alternatively, if you proceed with treatment, this €50 is deducted from your treatment fee.

Step 2: Treatment Co-Ordinator Consultation

This will be your first interaction with Callan Dental’s orthodontic team. This crew of amazing, orthodontics, orthodontic therapists and nurses will be on hand to help throughout your entire treatment.

Firstly, you will meet one of our Treatment Co-Ordinators. This will be your main point of contact for the duration of your treatment.During this consultation, the TCO will assess your oral health by using a 3D scanner, take photographs of your smile and talk you though all your options from; forms of treatment, payment plans and answer any questions you may have.

Depending on your case, you may need to see a general dentist to treat any issues you may have (e.g. fillings). If not, the TCO will then arrange an appointment for you to see our Orthodontist Dr Jackie Clune.

Step 3: Meet the Orthodontist

Before you Dr Jackie Clune, she will have assessed your case from the TCO’s detailed report from your consultation. During this appointment, x-rays will be taken then a routine exam with our orthodontist. This exam is very simple and allows our orthodontist to see how your teeth and jaws fit together.

After this exam, you will then will have a chat about all the different options that are available to you with Dr Jackie. At this appointment, Dr Jackie will thoroughly go through your treatment plan and will book your relevant appointments.

Step 4: Bond-Up

During your first visit at Callan Dental,  a 3D scan is taken of your teeth, when we are ready to fit the braces we use the latest technology to shorten your time in the chair when getting your braces on. Our orthodontist places the braces on a 3D model of your teeth. When you arrive, we simply stick the braces from the model onto your teeth, decreasing treatment time by nearly half.

Step 5: Hygiene

From the moment you enquire about braces, you will non-stop hear about the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene during your orthodontic treatment.

Therefore, we will arrange for you to see one of our incredible hygienists who will teach you all things oral hygiene. If you not don’t maintain good oral hygiene you will be prone to decay due to food trapped and nobody wants that!

Step 6: Return Visits

Throughout your treatment, will be required to see the orthodontist or orthodontic therapists to access your progress, monitor your gum condition, and make sure no cavities are developing. They will then make any amendments required and inform you when to visit next.

Step 7: Bond-Off & Retainer

When our orthodontist decides that your teeth are perfect and ready to take off your braces, we book 2 appointments. The first appointment is the placement of the bonded- permanent retainer behind your upper and lower teeth. It is a small metal bar placed behind your teeth, which sits comfortably and provides for excellent long term results.

The next visit, is getting your braces off. Our orthodontist will file and shape your teeth to suit each person, you will be provided with your before and after pictures and another 3D scan will be taken of your teeth to make your night time retainer.

Step 8: Follow Up

Three months after you get your braces off, we will get you back in for a retainer review, to ensure your retainer is not broken and still fits perfectly. Once our orthodontist is happy with the results, the check-ups will become yearly.
